Samsung finally disclosed the official specs for its much-awaited Galaxy Tab seven-inch Android tablet. They're quite impressive, but then again, so are the prices set for Europe, which are presumably unofficial. Either way, on UK's Expansys website, the tablet is listed for pre-order, with delivery scheduled for October 11th. Let's take a look at the official product specifications given out by Samsung itself.
The 7-inch slate is running Android Froyo, with the TouchWiz 3.0 UI, weighs in at 380 grams, is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, has two cameras, a 1.3MP one in the front and a 3MP one in the back, supports 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, but also Flash 10.1 and full HD playback. There are two versions available: a 16GB one and a 32GB one, and the battery will last approximately 7 hours. It also comes with Swype text input, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer, as well as gyroscope, geo-magnetic and light sensors.
Here are the prices we can expect in Europe: It looks like German customers will be able to get the Galaxy Tab for about €759 ($972), while in Sweden a retail price of about $1,240 (9,000 SEK) has been announced. In France, you'll be able to purchase the tablet for roughly €699 ($890). And in UK, as you can see in the image, Expansys has listed a retail price of £680 for the 16GB version, which is about $1,050. And you'll have to wait 39 days before you can get your hands on the wonderful tablet.
Although prices are still on the unofficial side, as we can see from Expanys' site and other sources, this is the price range for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, at least in Europe. It remains to be seen how much the Tab will cost in the US, it might be a different price range altogether. Either way, with these presumed prices, it still remains a mistery whether the Galaxy Tab will overthrow the Apple iPad or not. We'll have to wait and see.
